Overnight Green Salad

Well, it is summertime and the parties just keep coming. I made this yummy salad for a party we went to on Saturday night. I love it so much, I wanted to share it with you.

Overnight Green Salad
Aunt Judy gave this recipe to Lorri Overson who gave it to you.

1 Cup celery, chopped
1 medium head lettuce, sliced
¼ Cup green onions or chives, chopped (optional)
1 can water chestnuts, sliced
1 16 oz. package frozen peas, thawed

Layer all ingredients in a 9 x 13 inch cake pan or casserole dish.

Topping

2 Cups mayonnaise
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. season-all-salt
¼ tsp. garlic powder

Mix together and spread evenly on salad. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and a few chives. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.

Whole Cloth Quilt

Here is a baby quilt Cindy made out of solid fabric. This is what is referred to as a whole cloth quilt. Cindy drafted the design onto the fabric with removable markers, quilted the design, then removed the markings.

This is a great choice when you don't have time to piece a quilt but want to give a thoughtful gift. Plus they are amazingly beautiful! Cindy is an amazing quilter!

Eye Spy In Black And White Progress

Here is the progress on the Black and White Quilt. I am pleased with how it is turning out! Here are the first patches. I chose to put them in a bit of a grid pattern with two black and two white fabrics in each block. I had to unpick some of the blocks because I got the white and the black in the wrong place.

So, to keep the pattern organized, I put a little bit of tape on the same corner of each block. I cut the tape with my rotary cutter. I use 1-A in the top right corner and go across the the first row calling them 1-B 1-C 1-D. Then the next row is 2-A, 2-B etc.

Then I cut off the appropriate corner and put on a yellow triangle. When all four corners have a triangle, when you sew them together you have a diamond.

Here is a close up. You can see the tape squares.

This is how things are looking today! I am excited to get the field all sewn together and put borders on it! Thanks for watching my quilt progress.

I quilted this beautiful quilt for Kathy Terry.

The Front

The Back!

A Close up of the quilting from the back.

More of the back.

Close up of the Front. I LOVE her scrappy color choices.

Border Quilting

More Border Quilting

I used Pam Clarke's "Designs With Lines" approach to quilting the blocks.

I love the secondary design this approach to quilting creates on the back of the quilt.

Thank YOU! Kathy for letting me quilt your beautiful quilt!

Backpacking Parunuweap

Wiley the dog found a good place to rest while we ate lunch

You can't tell how tall this waterfall is but it's about 10 feet tall. We climbed up and down it, and coaxed the dog to do it too. No small feat :)

Modern And Simple

I love this quilt by Karen Taylor! This quilt has a lot of energy.

And I love how peacock feather meander quilting all over gives secondary motion to the quilt.

We can do this meander for 1.25 cents a square inch! Please visit creativequiltworks.com for more information on our quilting services.

I love what she did with the back seams! So clever to turn the seams on the back into something beautiful.

Thank you for letting me quilt for you Karen!

Star Quilt

My Friend Robbi made this beautiful quilt for her daughter!

Here is the back of the quilt.

I love how the quilting gave the back of the quilt a sparkling texture.

Close up of stipple and star quilting. I quilted a star inside the center of each star.

Darling fabric!

It was fun to do stipple with star accents on this quilt. Robbi is a very nice Mom. Thank you Robbi for letting me quilt your quilt!

Watery Quilt for JoAnn's Grandson

JoAnn  brought this quilt to me to quilt for her Grandson. He designed the appliqued logo himself.

He wanted a watery design so this is how we quilted it.

It was really fun the try something new and masculine.

Thank you JoAnn for letting me quilt your quilt!

A Pair of Blue Quilts for a Pair of Nephews!

I made this quilt for my niece's new baby. It was fun to play with some value and color morphing. One of my favorite things to do...

Here is the back and you can see the peacock meander and loopy border.

This view shows the quilting a little better than the first one.
I hope my cute nephew enjoys snuggling in this quilt!

Here is another quilt made with the same fabrics.  I did this as a trip around the world and did some simple diagonal lines for the quilting. I like this classic quilt and my classy nephew.

King Sized Quilt Is Finished!

I finally finished it! After years in the making, here it is, a king size two block quilt. One block is the snowball block, (triangles on the corners of a plain block) The other block is a nine patch. Deceptively simple.

However, when you are making that many blocks, it takes a long time!

As you have seen, I have a hard time working on a quilt in a continuous fashion. What I mean is I don't just cut, sew, quilt, bind, enjoy. I sometimes put a quilt aside for a while while I work on something else. Sometimes I am just waiting to get the courage to get back to it. Some parts of quilting are just tedious. What can I say? This is a king sized quilt and that is a lot of sewing so, I took several breaks. However, now it is finished and I love it!

Here is the back. I quilted feathery designs in each white block. I created a different feathery design in each block. I did straight lines in the pieced area and I love the secondary pattern on the back!

Close up of the front.

I am so happy to have this quilt on my bed!

An Inherited Dilemma

This beautiful heirloom quilt top came to Creative Quilltworks with a dilemma. See the quilt looked rectangular but, it was actually a parallelogram. What I am trying to say is that I could not load it on my machine because it was crooked. Plus, it was a little small for modern beds. What to do???

Cindy and I put our heads together and came up with a solution. We cut the corners off in line with the piecing. Added some custom sized muslin strips. Put the quilt on point. And added the corners back on.

We laid it out to see what it would look like with a border framing the quilt, it would look something like this. The customer liked our solution without borders so we went ahead and cut the quilt top. Yikes!! We put it all back together, quilted her up and here is how she looks!

Beautiful!

Some creative quilting in the added piece.

My bed is jealous.
